Stag

Stag, near the head of Loch Etive in Scotland, November 2007, image by Pug.

It was early afternoon on the 10th of November 2007. Pug and I were driving along the road from Rannoch Moor towards Loch Etive, to have a look at the famous granite slabs (they’re mighty!) and to check the canoeing conditions on Loch Etive (which were not at all good).

Near the head of the loch we saw what looked like a small party of deer stalkers (or maybe beaters or rough shooters)  moving through the open country. Half a mile further, we saw this magnificent stag, just standing right by the road, not moving an inch. We quickly snapped a few pictures (with Pugs Canon Powershot A430, as I didn’t have a camera at the time) and enjoyed the sight of this beautiful animal before it finally dashed away and we drove on.
